John Deanfield CBE is Professor of Cardiology at University College London (UCL) and Director of National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR) which incorporates the national databases for cardiovascular outcomes. He Chaired the Joint British Societies (JBS3) National Guidelines for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention (2014) that led to the development of the public facing Heart Age Tool (2015), and Chaired the UK’s National Health Check Programme Review (2021). He was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2021. Deanfield was appointed as the UK’s first ever Government Champion for Personalised Prevention to develop a set of evidence-based recommendations for a modern, personalised cardiovascular disease prevention service.
