Dr. Maarten De Smet obtained his medical degree at Ghent University in 2014, after which he further specialized in internal medicine and cardiology at the AZ Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruges and Ghent University Hospital. During his cardiology training, he conducted doctoral research on cardiac ion channels that are involved in life-threatening arrhythmias. He did research internships at Ghent University, KU Leuven and New York University. Currently, he is an electrophysiology fellow.
