Arco Teske obtained his PhD in 2009 with his thesis “echocardiographic quantification of regional right ventricular function”. After his specialty training he obtained a staff position in the University Medical Center Utrecht at the department of cardiology. He is head of the echo-department and a heart-valve specialist within the structural intervention team. He started the first cardio-oncology clinic in 2015 and is currently director of the Cardio-Oncology Center of Excellence in the UMCU, providing cardiovascular care for oncological patients, cancer survivors and all Dutch childhood cancer survivors as well as being the head of the cardio-oncology research team. The UMCU cardio-oncology heathcare pathway has currently been adopted in over 20 hospitals and we have a biennial cardio-oncology symposium. He is head of the Cardio-oncology working group tasked with the implementation of the ESC cardio-oncology guidelines in the Netherlands.
